Campaign Diaries - Northern Region

Day 1

September 30, 2018

Team Betty kickstarted the campaign tour of the Northern Region by visiting Bunkpurugu, Yunyo, Gambaga-Nalerigu, Walewale, Savelugu and ended the day at Tamale North constituency. We had earlier visited Yagaba-Kusori constituency during our tour of the Upper East Region via Builsa South.

The constituency executives enumerated the challenges they face in their service to the party especially in accessing their branches. The visits also afforded my team and I the opportunity to experience some of these challenges first hand. This will inform my decisions with regards to these constituencies when elected as Chairperson of the NDC.

The challenges of the Yunyoo constituency were just enormous and moved me to adopt the constituency. I shall be working together with the executives to alleviate the plight of the constituency. The prospects of winning the Yunyoo seat are bright and with the right strategy, we shall have an NDC MP for Yunyoo in 2020.

We all agreed that party needed to be very effective and relevant at the branches. The way to go therefore was to have a very motivated and committed grassroot. This has always been on my agenda and I shall pursue this vigorously under my chairpersonship.

The continuous lack of constituency offices is impacting negatively on the work of the constituency executives. This has led me to the decision to target an on-site comprehensive analysis of the status of offices across the country immediately I am elected Chairman.

The NDC is the largest political party in Ghana. My goal is therefore to cement this undisputed fact and further make the NDC more attractive to the youth and women especially.

I presented my message on the 5 thematic areas. I believe my policies will form the basis for the political power for our party in 2020 and beyond.

I appreciate the host of excellent comments, suggestions, queries and prayers, and I am convinced that we can make history and march on to victory in 2020.

Vote for Accessible Leadership,
Vote for Betty Mould Iddrisu for National Chairperson

Campaign Diaries - GAR Pt 1 ends

September 7, 2018 Day 2 The team visited the Ada, Sege and Tema Central constituencies on Day 2 of the campaign tour of the Greater Accra region. The reception was resoundingly overwhelming and the interaction lively. The constituency executives made known their expections of the next Leadership of our dear party and expressed confidence in my ability to provide that kind of Leadership. I presented my campaign message and touched on the core values of the NDC. I spoke about the need to be united for victory 2020 in order to save Ghanaians from the economic hardship imposed on them by the NPP government. The general feeling was that the party must do all it can to return to power in 2020 but the executives were unanimous in their caution that we must and should NOT do the same old things. Their sentiments were genuine and their commitment to see the NDC in power again, visible. I promised to work hand in hand with them to bring the paradigm shift. One word that caught everyo...
Address the gaps in Ghana's justice delivery - Betty Mould Iddrisu Betty Mould Iddrisu, former Attorney General A former Attorney General, Mrs Betty-mould Iddrisu, has bemoaned the inequalities that blight the pursuance of justice in Ghana. "Without justice being seen to be done; without a reduction in the anomalies we have seen in the administration of justice, justice cannot be effectively served," she said. She made this observation during the launch of the Court Users Committee (CUC) on Friday at the Hospitality Centre, Tema, by the African Women Lawyers Association (AWLA). In a keynote address, Mrs. Iddrisu said: "there still exists a distinctive gap between the effective delivery of justice to ordinary people and the disadvantaged, and that was worrying." She pleaded with the judiciary to look at the several issues that affected the ordinary man, adding that, "Some of the issues are resource based, but others are everyday issues tha...
